From September 26th to 28th 2024, Syracuse welcomed the G7 Agriculture Ministers. On the occasion of the event, the island of Ortigia hosted an exhibition dedicated to Italian excellence in the agri-food sector.
Among the leading companies, there was also Tenuta Pinto. The company has once again been selected by Palazzo Chigi to represent Puglia, thanks to its innovative projects that combine agricultural tradition with new technologies and scientific research..
The value of the Mediterranean diet: the research project with Ciheam Bari
One of the strengths of Tenuta Pinto is the constant propensity for innovation. An approach testified by the research project that the company presented at the Expo.
With the scientific support of Ciheam Bari, a center of excellence for training and research in agriculture, the Pinto Family farm has created an experimental garden dedicated to the study of sustainability and nutraceutical properties of the crops that make up the Mediterranean Diet.
The aim of the project is to demonstrate not only the healthiness of this food model, but also its potential in terms of environmental sustainability.
The next step, announced the Pinto Family farm, will be the creation of a new event space, where the importance of the sustainable Mediterranean Diet can be celebrated and disseminated.
“The three key words for the future of agriculture – said Domenico Pinto, founder of Tenuta Pinto – are agrobiodiversity, multifunctionality and sustainability. Innovating means combining health, respect for the environment and social progress. A balance capable of guaranteeing a more sustainable future for everyone.”
“The challenge of the new generation – explains Vito Pinto, a young agricultural production manager – is to use innovation to develop sustainable production, based on the principles of the Mediterranean Diet and focused on consumer health, in line with the European One Health strategy.
